About us

Hello! I'm Francisco Cernadas, born in 1989 in Barcelona, although I do not currently reside there. The reason for creating this project comes from two passions: Photography and videogames (although not both came at the same time, and second was before first).

Since I was little I've loved consoles, it all started as a result of discovering the first Nintendo thanks to a cousin of mine and the endless hours that we spent with my brothers: Super Mario Bros, Double Dragon II, Megaman, Chessmaster, in short, you can get an idea. Later my parents gave us the next generation; the Super Nintendo (although my older brother always maintains that he wanted the Mega Drive, and to the unfortunate little experience of my father and a crafty salesman, he ended up taking the "brain of the beast" home).

Since at that time I was unaware of that detail (now unimportant), I dedicated myself to finishing Super Mario World all day all night long. Over time the collection of games was increasing, and also the list of consoles both from the Japanese house and others (PlayStation and Xbox), without forgetting also the PC playing on LAN with my brothers, good old memories for sure.

What amazes me the most about this medium is that it combines several with each other: sound, images (static and moving), narrative, mechanics, etc. to offer as a result an audiovisual wonder in which you are a participant. For me that is one of the most important aspects, witnessing emotional stories that make you thinking about it, but above all, that you have enjoyed it in the process!

Years later, I was doing a photography class at university, and since I didn't have a camera (not counting the one for the phone), I decided to buy one. As I was practicing and doing on my own, something shook me inside, I couldn't stop taking more and more photos. Driven by this new sensation, I decided to learn everything I could about this new hobby.

At a point where I had to do the degree project of my university studies and without having a definite idea, I was browsing the Internet until I found an article in Xataka (Spain tech media) talking about photography in video games. The incredulous face that stayed with me was to frame, but is that considered "something"? How can you call it photography if it is surely to give the print screen key on the computer keyboard and that's it? reading I was more and more astonished, I even read that gallery exhibitions have been opened on the subject! once I had carried out a more in-depth investigation, it was clear to me; my work would deal with photography in videogames (or likely, in-game photograpy / virtual photography).

The end result was very satisfactory (and I thought that no one would be interested or find it too abstract to take it into account!), And once I finished my degree with an unbeatable grade from my work, I was left with a bitter feeling, as if the world he had been investigating for three months still had things to tell. That was why I decided to take my laptop PC and the Nintendo Switch (the only machines that I had and still have) and I launched myself to capture the most inadvertent details and situations that games could offer me. Although I still consider myself quite a newbie in this world, I am convinced that it is practiced to stay, and with more force if possible.
